Before Anesthesia
Local Anesthetic
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled surgical time.
- Have a light meal a few hours prior to surgery.
- For more extensive procedures, you may wish to have someone drive you home.
- Plan to rest a few hours after surgery.
Nitrous Oxide
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled surgical time.
IV Anesthesia
Please arrive 15 minutes before your scheduled surgical time.
- You may have nothing to eat or drink (including water) for (8) hours prior to surgery. To do otherwise may be life threatening. However, it is important that you take, using only a small sip of water, regular medications (high blood pressure, antibiotics, etc.) or pre-surgical prescriptions we may have provided.
- You must have a responsible person drive you to surgery, remain in the office during the entire surgery and drive you home after surgery.
- Plan to rest the remainder of the day. Do not drive or operate power tools, machinery, etc., for 24 hours after your surgery. A responsible person should remain with you until the following morning.
Other Special Instructions
Prophylactic antibiotics
- Routine medication
- Birth control pill effectiveness may not be adequate while taking antibiotics.
